We believe that education is not a one-size-fits-all approach, and that’s why we take a holistic approach to learning. We work closely with families, teachers, and other professionals to create a collaborative learning environment that supports each student’s success. Our approach is designed to build confidence, improve academic performance, and foster independence.

Our founder, James Pinches, has many years of experience working with Neurodiverse students. He is passionate about helping these students succeed academically and beyond. He is dedicated to providing the highest level of support and resources to his students.

Thank you for considering Divergent Tuition as your educational partner. We look forward to helping your student succeed.

JAMES PINCHES

I first learned that I was Neurodivergent in 2019 and I honestly wouldn’t change a thing! It gives me a unique ability to focus my skillset on enabling children to conquer their troubles with education and supporting them to form healthy relationships within their families to develop socially and emotionally;

The Whole Child Approach.

I have studied education formally for over 6 years and I hold multiple qualifications. Alongside this, I have held several roles across many settings; from the largest SEN academy, state and independent schools in the UK to an impoverished school in Cambodia.

This has equipped me with a wealth of knowledge and skills to support you with all of your educational needs.

Specialising in support for students who are neurodiverse,

I also work with all SEND and SEMH disorders such as ADHD, Anxiety, Behavioural difficulties, ASD, dyslexia and dyspraxia to name a few.

In my role as a counsellor for students with SEND and SEMH needs, my primary aim is to create a secure and accepting environment for them to explore their emotions and thoughts and develop effective coping mechanisms to manage their challenges.

I collaborate closely with each student to comprehend their specific requirements and adjust my counselling approach accordingly. I utilize a range of techniques such as mindfulness practices and cognitive-behavioural therapy to help students recognize and overcome negative thoughts and behaviours while developing positive coping strategies.

Establishing a strong rapport with my students is an essential aspect of my work as a counsellor. I invest the time to build a personal connection with each student and gain their trust and respect. This helps me better understand their unique needs and provide effective support that aids them in achieving their academic and personal objectives.

Furthermore, I collaborate closely with other professionals involved in the student’s care, such as medical professionals and teachers, to ensure that their needs are comprehensively understood and addressed. As an advocate for my students, I strive to ensure that they receive the support and accommodations required for their success.

Ultimately, my goal as a counsellor for students with SEND and SEMH needs is to empower them to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives. It is an honour to have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of these incredible students, and I take great pride in my work.
